Tinder Face Mask Packaging
How can you use humor and design to frame controversial issues? These face masks use this framework to tackle correlations between lewd online dating conversations and makeup.
(warning: sexual references)
Research shows a direct correlation between the amount of makeup women wear in dating profiles to the lewdness of male responses. These masks show a sampling of real-life messages that women received on Tinder, a hookup/dating app. Each package sports one pickup line on the outside and contains a face mask printed with an illustration of the woman's makeup from her profile.
These masks use intentionally crass humor as a way to highlight the commodification of women and sex in the online dating world. The aim is not to say that online dating is bad, but rather to highlight the often ridiculous interactions cosmetically made-up women go through when living their everyday lives.
